Android is once again the target of dangerous malware, Joker.(Joker malware) Determined to siphon internet users' bank accounts, the virus has been spotted in the code of 17 Play Store applications, report computer security researchers at Zscaler. A total of 120,000 smartphones installed the malware before Google hit it.
This is not the first time that Joker malware has been spotted on the Play Store. Appeared in September 2019, the malware subscribed its victims without their knowledge to paid online services. Banned by Google teams, the malware regularly returns to the store to scam users. A few weeks ago, Joker was thus spotted in the code of 6 Android applications available on the Play Store by a computer security researcher from Pradeo.
Here is the list of the 17 applications infected with the Joker malware
A report from Zscaler on September 24 now claims that the malware has infected 17 apps in the Play Store. “This spyware is designed to steal text messages, contact lists and device information, while silently enrolling the victim in premium services,” Zscaler explains. The infected applications have been downloaded by more than 120,000 users. Here is the list of applications to urgently uninstall:
