Google Phone continues to improve its formula. The beta version welcomes a rather handy new feature. Indeed, the application will be able to pronounce aloud the name of the person calling you. A practical function for the visually impaired or blind.
Google Phone appeals to more and more users every year. Some manufacturers have also chosen to trust the call application of the Mountain View firm. This is for example the case of the OnePlus North which embeds Google Duo, Phone and Message by default.
The web giant regularly improves the Google Phone formula. Since August 2020, the Google Phone beta is available on any Android smartphone. Which was not the case before. New features were incorporated along the way, such as the ability to record voice calls.
However, on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, our colleagues from the Android Police site confirm that the beta version of Google Phone is hosting another new feature. Indeed, the application will now be able to pronounce the number or name of the person calling you aloud. A rather practical feature when you can not glance at the screen (in a car for example) or for the visually impaired or blind.
This feature, called Caller ID Annoucement, is accompanied by another novelty, this time linked to Google Call Screen. As a reminder, this function allows hearing-impaired users to take advantage of a written transcription of a telephone conversation. However, these texts are automatically saved in the smartphone's memory.
So to avoid overloading the storage space of the smartphone with dozens and dozens of recordings, Google has integrated a system for automatically deleting transcriptions after thirty days. There is therefore no longer any need to constantly monitor the memory of your smartphone. However, it should be remembered that the Call Screen function is not yet available in many Country, despite being deployed in the United States for almost a year.
As said before, Caller ID Annoucement is only available on the beta version of Google Phone. In addition, it should be noted that only a few users will be able to benefit from it. Google wants to analyze the behavior of its servers after the integration of this new functionality. That's why it will only be available to a few randomly selected users. Of course, we hope that all of these features will be quickly accessible to all users.
