The Google Play Store has a new loyalty program: Google Play Points. Available in the United States and other countries for a little while, it allows you to earn points with every purchase made from the Play Store. Points that can then be redeemed for free games, books, movies or series on the Play Store.
Until then available in the United States, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Google Play Points will land in France this Wednesday, October 15, 2020. This is a loyalty program intended for users from the Google Play Store. The principle is very classic.
Each purchase made on the Google Play Store allows you to earn loyalty points. Note that it is also possible to accumulate points thanks to the transactions carried out in your various applications or games on Android. Useful if you regularly buy V-Bucks on the Android version of Fortnite for example.
Google Play Store - Four ranks, with key rewards
In addition, special events will be organized and will earn up to four times more points than usual. Except during these events, the scale fixed is as follows: one euro spent = one point won. Easy as pie. Google also specifies that it is possible to grab some additional points by downloading certain applications and free games.
Rankings aficionados will be happy to hear that users will be awarded a “virtual medal” based on their number of points. Note that the higher your rank, the more important your rewards will be. You will also earn more points, either in games, or with movie rentals for example:
- Bronze: x4 in games, x2 on movie and book rentals during monthly events
- Money (from 150 points per year): x4 in games (weekly events), x3 on movie and book rentals during monthly events, +50 points each week
- Gold (from 600 points per year): x4 in games (weekly events), x4 on movie and book rentals during monthly events, +200 points each week
- Platinum (from 3000 points per year): x4 in games (weekly events), x5 on movie and book rentals during monthly events, +500 points each week and Premium Support
